SecureScribe is the continuation of Veridian, the private on-device clinical documentation system created by Anson Washeck in Sacramento, California.

Anson Washeck, Veridian, and SecureScribe

Anson Washeck is the founder and creator behind SecureScribe. The project was originally developed and presented under the name Veridian, an earlier clinical AI identity that evolved into SecureScribe. Veridian received recognition at Sacramento State University's Spring 2026 Hornet Hacks, where the project won the overall $1,000 prize.

That continuity is intentional: Veridian became SecureScribe. SecureScribe carries the original project's focus on practical, privacy-preserving clinical AI into a clearer product and company identity.

What SecureScribe does

SecureScribe supports clinical documentation for behavioral-health nursing workflows. A nurse can document an observation naturally; the system organizes the narrative into a structured, review-ready draft while preserving the requirement that a clinician verifies the result before it reaches an existing electronic health record.

• Private inference designed to run on facility hardware rather than sending clinical notes to a cloud AI service.
• Workflows for PRNs, refusals, behavioral observations, milieu events, safety events, and family contacts.
• Source grounding and missing-field flags instead of invented facts.
• Mandatory nurse review and approval as part of the safety model.
• Evaluation using nurse-adjudicated ground truth, held-out records, deliberate omissions, missing-field recall, and matched prompting.

Edge AI and healthcare technology

SecureScribe represents Anson Washeck's Edge AI approach: use a compact model on constrained hardware, keep sensitive information close to its source, and measure the system against a real workflow. The work combines clinical documentation, healthcare technology, model evaluation, and on-device inference.
